Do you love big bluegill?
hello,
i was thinking about possibly getting into kayak fishing as an extra technique and was wondering if there are any bluegill fisherman on this site using that technique. i'm in south carolina and there seems to be some prime areas just waiting for a kayak to sneak up on the shallows for monster bluegill and shellcracker. lake moultrie is near me and there are areas on it that i would love to use a kayak. i'd like to hear from anyone using a kayak to fish from and i would…

Hi everybody. I'm new to this site. Mike was the one who told me about it. I fish both fresh and saltwater but concentrate of freshwater mostly. I enjoy catching just about every freshwater fish out there in CT, including suckers. Lures I'm big on when it comes to sunfish and panfish are Rapalas. I also enjoy using the Ajusta Bubble with a fly whenever I'm just going for sunfish. The biggest bluegill I have ever caught was 10 inches long weighing 13 ounces. Caught it with a Rebel Teeny Wee…

Alan Warren, Big Bluegill, Richmond Mill video
Alan Warren is one of the most well-spoken supporters of the outdoors that I ever met. He's exactly what this industry needs to help keep our hunting and fishing heritage alive.
I was proud to meet him. Watch this video and you'll see why.

This setup has been producing some very nice gills late in the day.
1/16 oz RFS spoon rigged with a Maniac gizzy bug (horizontally)....it detours the little gills at that time of day when the flasher lights up with activity.…

hey everyone i came across this site online and was happy to see other bluegille/bream fans out there. i often try to fly fish for bluegill and other bream when possible and find them so much fun on the fly rod that i'd rather catch a dozen bluegill anyday compared to possibly one bass. i do bass fish also but i'm really a bream fly fisherman.
would love to hear from others in the south carolina areas as well as across the country who love to fish fro bream. to me the ultimate…

I have an intereset in homemade baits and old time fishing methods. One of my favorite baits is hot dogs, I season up. I was wondering if anyone has any homemade bait or cheap bait they use? Also, as a kid I remember a guy calling up fish with a tuning fork. Would love to hear more ideas like this.
Thanks
Dwayne

Hello friends!
Bw is auger-less at the moment, super bummer! My auger locked up from too many years of neglect. Thats what happens when you move from the "ice belt" and are going for 8 years. My fault. I will be buying a new auger this month, that can't come soon enough!
So what to do when the lakes are forzen and you have no way to punch a hole? Not much! I have bought some jigs and such but, I happend to stumble upon a tv show on the web, last night. The show is on the Versus…

I'm sitting here writing on the morning of December 31rst 2010; the last day of the calendar year. This year I feel more introspective about this 'arbitrary gregorian mark on the wall'..What have I done, what will I do?, etc, etc. These are the typical topics of reflection when contemplating the passage of…

As many of you know, my son Matt and I had the great experience of fishing at Richmond Mill Lake this past November and, literally, had a father/son fishing trip of a lifetime. The weather was cold for Dixie, but the scenery was great and the fishing spectacular. But between all the bluegills, bass, crappie and pickerel were other things of greater importance...the chance to…

My buddy and I got into a few nice ones late this afternoon....just as I arrive to the lake (3:00pm), I see him running for a flag....he sticks, and lands a tank Largemouth...21".....I fire up the gas auger and zort a half dozen holes, then set up my boards.......I fire up the vex, and on the first time down, I stick a behemoth greenie.
For the next hour and a half, fishing is dead....a half dozen dink gills and craps....no flags. 4:30 rolls around, and I decide to wrap it up...walk…

I'll tell you tonight ,because tomorrow I'll be busy
with my sleigh full of crickets , it will be such a tissy
I named the bluegill pulling my sleigh,
On Bruce, on Greg, on Sharon and Jen, on Dan and Zack , thats most of them
Finally, the last one pulling my sleigh,
It's the Spirit of Boogieman, Leading the way
I'll fish in the dark, because that is best,
and…
