"David, do you happen to know the retrieve speed on a Crappie Pro 230 reel? I have one and know the retrieve is absurdly slow but it casts nice and I use it a little to honor my Dad who taught me how to to cast a Johnson spincaster when i was a kid ."
"Here is a copy from a Forum by a guy named Tim :

"I don't like taking anything over 8 inches out of the lake. Lake has been over fished for years now. I like the daily limit, would not hurt me any if it was less. Anymore around here an 8in bluegill is a good size gill."
I have been wanting to post this for a while. This sign was posted this spring at a lake here in Southern Illinois. (Devils Kitchen) This lake is known to have the biggest bluegill here in SoIL. Seems to be as they are trying to grow the bass population and not the bluegill. Seems like we will be losing those 10 inch bluegill in SoIL.See More
Dwayne, ty for adding me. I look forward to sharing the wisdom of fishing. I have been at it 41 yrs, and fished the USA , central Am. , south Am. I am retired Army spcl ops . fought in the drug wars mostly, sniping, or raids. Glad to now just hunt down bluegills and some extrme fishing of channel cats. Glad I found this site and the good people I have already talked with. Looking foward to a rewarding exchange.
Thanks Dwayne for selecting me as a friend. If I can help you in anyway let me know. I've been fishing since I have been out of diapers, that's a long time ago. Was in a local bass club in Toledo Ohio. That wasn't my cup of tea I wanted to fish to relax and in the club it wasn't relaxing. I'm a retired auto worker who is obsessed with fishing, can't get enough but since sickness in the family I now only get out once or twice a year wanting to catch that giant gill. Along the way if I can help someone by answering a question or two then so be it. I just hope with my infor it will help down the road. I love to fish for anything but the top of my list is perch (good eating) blue gill that includes all the sunfish group and crappies. I fish ultra lite rods and reels and small spinners and jigs. I fish out of a bass boat that's part of the comfort factor when I fish I'll go in the early morning or evening, try to do both. If I can help you please ask and in return maybe one day you can help me or someone else. Dwayne welcome aboard and GOOD FISHIN...
