Tried out this years favorite Jig on the small creek Red Breasted Sunfish. I plan on going back and seeing how they will respond to a plain  Squirrel Tail Jig .Got a few fish ( tiny Bass and Red Breasted Sunfish ) a few weeks back tipping with a crawler piece . I do believe they are aggressive enough to go for an un tipped ST jig however.

Targeting RBS

Love fishing for RBS and using those hard Rubber Creme /Burke Terrestrials in the summer  on a flyrod .Feisty little guys were taking the Red legged Yellow Brown Grasshopper  and the Black Ant on this venture .

Visited the river yesterday . A few RBS on a Tabbert ant/Flyrod and a RBS on a Teeny Wee R crank. The RBS were hitting but not eating .I suppose they are protecting nests.

Two approaches that took better RBS from a small New Jersey river . Some fish were around 7 inches which is about as big as I've seen in the Wanaque River .

Tried the Keitech 'Easy Shiner' ,electric shad  color . Put it on a #6 Aberdeen hook . Used up three of the 12 pack. Caught 5 species in the stream ; RBS, SM, LM, PS, AND BG. Good bait with strong shrimp scent ,about 40 cents a bait .I caught 6 fish or so before having to replace but maybe if I glue the baits to the hook shank I can up that number .
