So this is probably the last thing you would expect me to ask after the picture many of you guys saw yesterday, but how do you catch spawning rockies? Smallie fishing has pretty much come to an end…Continue

My unlikely, two part fish story came this winter when I was looking for somewhere to fish. This winter was particularly difficult because here in Northern Illinois we only had safe ice for a week or…Continue

I just got in to bass fishing a few years ago but I have tried just about every type of bait there is. I know far less than most people on this site, but I think I may have something to say here.…Continue

I got to fish my favorite lake today. Last year thanksgiving week was all big gills, maybe a few redears in a day and a small bass every 20-30 fish. Today we got four different species in our first four fish. A big redear followed by a monster gill, a 14" crappie and a small bass. This theme continued for the rest of the day with 10 gills, 7 crappie (a bunch lost), 4 bass, and 3 redear, including a monster. Got some pictures and a great video of my dad catching a nice bass on an ultralight…

Just put three fish in my 30 gallon aquarium (after giving away the one giant goldfish I was keeping in there.) They are a 7.5" pumpkinseed, 7" bluegill, and 6.5" bluegill. (Somebody cancelled on our fish fry so three of the littlest ones got lucky.) I have renovated the tank by putting in a new big filter, I check and adjust the PH very frequently, remove toxins such as ammonia and chlorine, and feed them redworms from my worm farm. I am adding a heavy duty air pump as soon as I can get one…

I cast out a small mini-mite attempting to catch some bluegill and perch. On the first cast a 6" perch grabs it. As I was bringing him in something just started taking drag like crazy. I kid you not a 20+ pound channel cat goes to the surface and spits the perch out. But the fun wasn't finished. Within seconds two more bass are looking at the perch. One nice one eats it and I pull back hard to let my dad throw the plastic worm to them but I had hooked the stupid green carp. So after going…

Holy Moly, Jacob...where you been, man?
Jacob, TRY a 2 or a 3 weight, you won't want to use anything else if YOU DO!!!!
Welcome aboard Jacob. Enjoy our site and use it well. There is lots that goes on here all we have to do is look. Look at the blogs and forums and enjoy I know there is lots to be learned here all we have to do is use it. You are now part of an interesting bunch of people who have a common goal we all love to fish and fish is what we do when the opportunity arises . When we do this thing we all love to do we are learning and when we learn hopefully we pass on that bit of knowledge that we learned to other people. There is tons of information for us to fine tune our skills. In the same token don't be afraid to share information yourself it may be something we can use ourselves to help us in our fishing endeavors. Then in the same token if you have a question don't be afraid to ask. Almost everybody here will answer your question if he or she knows the answer and it may be something someone else wants to hear the answer to but hasn't asked yet there is no question to dumb. There is also photo's and even some videos and we have a chat line which really in my opinion is not used much at all, so don't be afraid to explore there is load information here all learned by sharing and caring people. I know you will enjoy the site because I know you like to fish or you wouldn't have joined you see the interest is there. Where else can you learn and have so much fun doing so. Have fun enjoy the site and GOOD FISHIN..
