Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

WELL MY OLD BUDDY IS FINALLY GONE... I don't know what exactly he died of but surmise it was his diabetes....Of  course his wife never notified me of his passing and I'm really mad about that.
Oh well  DOUG  had a great life filled with fishing and messing around .... he always owned a boat and we went many places fishing.

Down to Olney Illinois for one and we worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre that place out .....we caught mmmmmmany gills and crappies down there over a 25 year history.

Then we switched to Iowa , there were no limits there when we started fishing there. Now there are limits everywhere we went in the old days... Partly our own faults I guess...  I know of lots of guys who caught lots more fish than we did , but that's not an excuse of course , just saying weren't the only ones catching tons of fish..
Now I fish ponds mostly , no boat to mess with ,  of my own.  I also fish with a new old partner Joe Leopold , my cousin who owns a
17 FOOT LUND ....... a very comfortable to boat to fish from...... He's a great friend and of course a good fisherman to boot.

Back to PA #1 , DOUG and I spent every summer fishing together and never regretted it once..... he used to make me laugh alot at some of his  sayings and so forth. we had a great time fishing together for over 25 years . I miss him a lot ......
I MADE HIM A FLY ROD ONE TIME , AND I LATER GOT IT BACK FROM HIM WHEN HE WAS TOO SICK TO USE IT. I TREASURE THAT ROD AND THE TIME I HAD WITH DOUG.. I SPOSE HE'S AN A POND SHORE LINE, RIGHT NOW WITH A  LAWN CHAIR SITTING THERE WITH  IN THE BIG POND IN THE SKY....AT LEAST I HOPE THIS IS SO..... SEE YA ONE OF THESE DAYS DOUG, YOU WERE A PAL AND A FRIEND LIKE NO OTHER....

Very well composed Tooty……..I’m so sorry for your loss……sounds like a great guy and people that fish together have a special bond….it’s clear to me you shared that with Doug…….
