Foam Bugs/ Kreinik Braid 3 Replies

Below are 3 foam bluegill/crappie, perch, etc. bugs I tied recently. I used Kreink Braid for the under-body to add a little flash, and also for a tail. There is no end to uses for the Kreink Braid. I…Continue

i just use thread and super glue to seat them..lead is nasty stuff.stopped pouring my own years ago and avoid it when i can.still use lead wire and jigs, weights etc when needed.not a person who has to have the latest and greatest but if i find something new that works better i stick with it.

been using the 60 degree hooks and tung beads for a few years now.makes a great fly.not that pricey if you shop around DICK.the tiny leadheads just dont fish the same way due to the density of the material..you really dont need the slotted beads and they are a tad lighter due to having less material than the countersunk ones. and do cost more.

But, with the slot, these beads fit VERY well onto 60-degree jig hooks.  The Perdigon Nymph is big over in Europe these days, and those are tied on that type of hook with a slotted tungsten bead.  It lets the "fly" get down near the bottom really quickly.

What's a slotted bead?

I've been getting my beads off Ebay,  ~$20 per 100.  Here's where I got the lead fillings/superglue idea.

Cheapest price I've found for Tungsten beads is Wholesale Fly Company.  They don't have Slotted Tungsten beads, yet.

ONLY PROBLEM WITH USING TUNGSTEN--  IS THE COST OF IT !  ITS PRICERY;; THAN REGULAR LEAD !  BUT STEVE; YO UHAVE A GREAT IDEA GOING THERE;; CONGRATS BUDDY !
