my son and I are going out this weekend where the river feed into Lake Conroe,

he's been catching crappie just as easy as I'm catching these bass in my pond. Gotta get me some fishing for fish and not just…

The Compleat 'Free Range' Angler

I guess by now you are wondering what my defination of " Free Range " is all about . To me it is the sporting chase of free roaming wild fish in a natural enviroment, that have the ability to escape being caught . They are wild fish that have not been raised or Aquacultured. Its far more satisfying knowing that you caught those large fish in the wild rather than them just answering a dinner bell, these are my true trophy fish.

This also leads to…

SPRINGS

DOES ANY OF YOU SCIENTFIC ANGLERS KNOW HOW TO LOCATE UNDERWATER SPRINGS? I UNDERSTAND THAT WATER THAT COMES IN FROM THE SPRING IS A CERTAIN TEMPERATURE YEAR ROUND. SO, THIS MUST MEAN THAT FISH WILL STAY CLOSE TO THE WARMER INCOMING WATER. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS ANY WAY OF LOCATING A SPRING, OTHER THAN BY CHANCE.

reporting crew

With the growing numbers of member to Big Bluegill it time we have a “on site reporting Crew” This crew sponsored by the members will go around the country and fish different site, lakes and pond and use the latest tackle and do a daily news video from locations.
Jeremy and I will, for the betterment of the group, quit our jobs and take on this task. A picture of the required boat and tackle will be posted soon.
Thank You

Chicago Fishing League for Bluegills?

For gill enthusiasts we watch the tv shows and bass center on the weekends and our species sometimes pops up. I would love to have a reality show on bluegill fishermen like Deadliest Catch. I do know of one such show in the works called IceMen detailing the life of ice fishing teams in the upper midwest.

Still, I think we can do better for the toughest fish pound-for-pound in any freshwater pond.

Europeans by my home town had a fishing league going for a few years, on our ponds around… Continue

Richmond Mill package deals

Thanks to strong demand for bluegill packages, Richmond Mill is creating some package deals for groups of four or more.

Without question, Richmond Mill is nirvana for big bluegill enthusiasts. Bluegill average over one pound, and two-pounders are possible for those with a lot of skill, and a little luck.

I've been to this place and I was amazed at the quality of people, and the fishing experience.…

Venting!

Remember takin a kid fishing is going to be one of the most memorable things they will ever do. Especially for the ones that never get to do it. Ridding in a boat or fishing from the bank its awsume.

The most important thing to remember and remind them is not to make this a competition. You can teach a kid the basics of how to fish in a day. If they like it and wanna go back anybody can learn to compete with enough time on the water! This AINT the most important lesson. Its not why… Continue
