John, i try to sneak up on them and grab them like you would a cricket, a net with a somewhat long handle would do great i'd say

Jason -I gotta figure out a way to catch them easily ,they fly away and avoid me pretty easily !

I know this has been forever ago, but John Sheehan, those big grasshoppers work great, just as good as a cricket if you ask me.

I am mostly a cricket thrower but for the shellcrackers I use redworms or night crawlers. They seem to pick the worms off bottom a lot better. With the caddis hatch that has started down here in Alabama the shellcracker and bluegills are stuffed with these little bugs from the bottom and the fish are really hitting. Have not seen any sign much on the bedding areas though. This next full moon will tell the tell ..LOL

Aw - I should just take April & May and put a black stripe across them I guess. Fishing season starts I guess I went deep, deep undercover...

I've never used em but I know some ol boys that have some success with em, I personally use crickets or nightcrawler chunks myself

At near by ponds and lakes, flying grasshoppers are still alive and kicking in the tall grasses and I've never used them for bait .Anyone experienced with using them ?They are quite big.
