Thanks for the insight, Dan. I do have many pluses on my side...home is paid off, wife has a big retirement pension, I'll have a good health plan and I have many employment options, both self employment and with other folks. I have a nice 401 K but my rather small pension won't kick in for 2 years yet. I have some medical issues that are wearing me down and the work ethic of todays generation is apaulling.

I currently write for 4 different periodicals about fishing and I make a series of hairjigs that are regionally known. I have thought about guiding and teaching fishing, so we'll see.

I'd like you to keep me informed on Hamp. Perhaps we can put together something for him on this site. If he recovers, maybe a little well wishing page on the blog section...or if he does not recover we could add some special words on this site for guys like Hamp. People we meet through fishing--and mean so much to our lives.
