Do you love big bluegill?
These small but cool sunfish are the Blue spotted species and in coastal North Carolina they are in several of our lakes including Mattamuskeet...........

Despite their small size they are aggressive……..I’ve used raw chicken in crab traps in this lake and caught some of these little fish looking for small pieces of chicken to eat…
I believe they are here in NJ too Jeff, but I've never seen one. Cool little Fish .
Don’t know if you saw these John…..these are the only spotted sunfish I’ve seen in North Carolina….
Some of the coolest spotted sunfish are the elusive blue spotted sunfish........
This particular lake does have salt water in it so I would say yes on the brackish/tidal waters......
Neat little sunfish just when you think you seen it all. Looks like they have kinda big mouths and large eyes neato.
