Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

What state would you choose to fish Bluegill if you could only pick one?

We are fortunate to have members from all over this great nation...One of my favorite things about Bigbluegill.com is the instant connection with the people that love and enjoy the same things that I do when it comes to all things Bluegill from folks all over the country.....Many of us have also had the great experience of fishing several different states whether vacationing, traveling for work or as a result of moving..... If you could pick one state to fish Bluegill, what state would it be and why? Thanks for sharing and I expect this may be a difficult choice for some and very easy for others.....Again, thanks in advance!

not just a tough question-- its a heck of a tough one!!  would love to go fishing with LOFR at the crappie cabin!  with Jeffery in  north Carolina!  in bama  at several old places I know;;  florida around crystal river and ocla;; just to many places;; I cant begin to narrow it down to just one!!  how about just one week end-- in each state??  LOL!!

Carl, We  have  your reservation at the Crappy Cabin, We will leave the light on for you!    LOFR

Yea Carl your just like me so many places so little time.

It has to be a state where the bluegill is the state fish.

thanks LOFR!!  a lot of  guys here I would love to fish with.  I have always said- to me a trophy is what just gets on my hook.  its the company your with that makes memories!!

I've fished for gills in Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, and though it's not a state, Korea. (smaller ones there, but nice places to fish.) The biggest gills I've caught were in TX, obviously with the longer growing season. North Carolina is really nice, but I just flat out know more good spots here in Virginia. Virginia gets my vote. (and one of my spots also has an abundance of trophy smallies)

Bluegill are all over Japan (even in the moat around the Imperial Palace, but I've never seen anyone fishing there; don't think I'd want to eat anything out of that water, anyway), but I didn't know they were in Korea as well. Do you know if that was a direct-from-North-America transplant, or did the Japanese bring them during their occupation of Korea?

Same logic I use, Sean.
After my 2 1/4 pound catch last year, Oklahoma is a state of choice.

Too bad we cannot see the numbers on the U. S. map for each state.  Being from California and seeing so many huge Bluegill caught here, I'm curious as to how many members have or would have picked my state.

Did anyone ever put together a "12 inch Bluegill Club" Group"?  Members that have caught a Bluegill or Redear 12" long or larger can show photos their trophy fish, and share where and when it was caught, and what tackle and bait/lure was used, etc…  I think it would be an interesting group.

I don't know if I've posted on this thread, but it seems like everywhere down south has nice gills.

Great idea Dick.....I would like to hear from the newest members as well......Tell us a little bit about your state of choice for Bluegills......
