Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I'm hanging my rods up until gill's spawning season. Not even bother with the trouts this year..after the fiasco yesterday:

Day started out, with me half asleep because our little girl decided to keep us up half of the night kicking us in our bed rather than sleeping in her own. Left for Lake Perris at 5:30am. Got there, ultra dark, and wait in a long long line of boaters. 6am, unloaded the inflatable pontoon, with every part of my body screaming "IT'S FREAKING COLD!" Fingers were frozen even with high dexterity sport gloves on at 35°F. Yeah..I see some ice along them hills.

In the water by 6:25am, loaded up the rods, dipping the first line with homemade corns to entice possible holdover trouts. Pull out the new Blue Fox gold rattler with frozen fingers..*OPPS!* dropped one into the water. That's okay..pulled out another blue one..*OPPS!* in the water..ARGG! Pulled out the third one, while keeping the line over the rear platform..successfully put on the line. Cast time! Water temp, 49°F. Dang. Fishes are not chewing. Out of 15 bass boat chaser, only 1 manage to land a 6lbs, while others, 1 to 2lbs. No panfish, no cats, no carps. Way too slow.

Wife called, at 10am, and need to be somewhere for a family outing at 1pm. There goes the day of fun on the water. Pack up at 11am, put rods on top of minivan, load up the heavy equipment, and head home..errr..rods..Drove for 2 miles, forgot the rods on the top. Heavy side wind knocked the rods over. *CRAP!* I saw all my still new rods flew off. Stopped the car, ran to the rods, and a few cars already drove over the rods. Drove home, with a mindset stating, "Oh well..fishing season is official over."

Worst fishing day ever.

yeah but they aint no where to be found

LMAO You can argue all you want Greg, but a woman's standard on a vow precedes all dates. We agreed that if she's not to fill our closets with massive amount of shoes and purses for every occasions, and I won't have the massive quantity of fishing and electronic toys for my every occasion LOL

Greg we  gotta cut Leo some slack he had an off day, we all have them Leo just worst than most.

LOL Don't worry

Ok Dick, I know I was just thinking since he has not had the " VOWS" for that long it is our duty to school him in such matters!!!! If I would have seen my rods scattered I would have been in tears!!!! Til I start thinkin OOOOOOOOOOOO new FLYRODS!!!!!!!!!!

LEO, KEEP AN EYE ON THE CLOSETs, my FRIEND!!!!!!!! :-D

Oh, Yeah you misspelled CARP!!!!!!

ya i hear ya leo im kinda sitting idle right now... we got 6 in of snow and its cold here.. but the ice is too thin to walk on.. hunting season is over so i have got cabin fever and really looking forward for march so i can get back to fishing..

Sorry to here about your day Leo, I saw a saying in this new book I bought, it says " NO RAIN/NO RAINBOWS" so that being said, when spring comes we get some fishing revenge. :)

Sorry to hear that, Leo, that's really awful. Reminds me of when I broke one of my favorite spinning rods in the mini-van door, only way worse. I'm just glad you didn't get run over chasing after the rods in the road. Rods can be replaced. You can't be.

Leo, Dont put up the rods, do a little bank fishing

Need to hang up the broken rods for the time being. All the light rods have been destroyed. The only thing I have now are my one medium-heavy bass rod, and salt rods. A tad over kill to hunt for gills *LOL* But, it's best to get some down time from fishing. Time to collect some more arsenal for the up coming spring time, especially modifying my inflatable pontoon. Going to mod that thing until it sinks for the hunts in a few months.

Leo...remind me to never go fishing with you.
