Rick if we don't get some ice ere before to long I'll be hoping for spring.
hey dick; nothing wrong with those buddy; looks great!
I dunno Dick...they look pretty good to me!
Dick- they are looking good, I think they will all catch fish. Keep winding that threat . Spring will be here before you know it.
Attempted a bee with feather wings
This past Fall I picked up A BUNCH of size 4 bronze "cricket hooks" in off brands from the clearance bins at Wally World. I was intrigued, as I had just ordered and received a package of 4xl size 4 "streamer" hooks from Mustad. The ones I was seeing in the clearance bins looked identical. I picked up a pack, took them home, and laid one out side-by-side with one of the Mustads. Almost an exact copy. The Mustad hook's bend was more of a "round" shade, while the knock-off hook's bend was more like a sproat hook. I ended up picking up 4 or 5 packages of the discount hooks, and have been using them for Clousers and a couple deer-hair poppers. Only problem I had with those hooks is that they need a quick honing.
As far as tying smaller flies, if the pattern is new to me, I'll tie a bigger one first, before I drop down to a size 16 or smaller.
Thanks Dick . Yup I enjoy seeing all the different patters guys tie on here and is an endless learning lesson for me everyday on BBG..... I personally don't do much with feathers other than Marabou and wish I could help with wings etc. but there are lots of guys on here who can help ya buddy. Speed in tying will come with doing lots of em and you may not want to do lots of em , but you will become more proficient as you go along and with that will come speed if you want it or are in a hurry to do something for your self............
