Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Been thinking about a new ultralight spinning reel few several months now,  want something thats a quality piece that will last, smooth, balanced with a stout solid feel that cast well,  dont mind paying for quality but not going to drop Donald Trump money either.

Always been a fan of Shimano but have been eye ballin some Pfluger (?? spellin stinks ) and diawa reels, but wanted to hear what y'all had to say before buying .

Letter rip tater chip, what say you ??

I own several Pflueger President UL reels and don't need to buy anything else.

Bought a Pflueger President last year and it's a very good reel for a very reasonable price!

I have two Pflueger 'Presidents' and a 'Supreme' ,great dependable reels .One thing to consider is if a reel needs fixing one should know that certain shops only fix certain brand reels .An instance here in NENJ is an established shop in Fairfield NJ only fixes Penns and Daiwa . This has made me lean to Daiwa and Penn in more recent purchases even though I prefer Pflueger . Now I need to find a shop somewhere nearby that fixes Pfluegers should they need repair .BUT , like I said they are dependable and don't need repair as of yet .They get used a lot too!

Hey Johnny!..I have UL rods from 2-0 thru 9-0’ long I like to fill them up with same brand/model reels … I know I’ll never be there 100%. It makes maintenance a lot easier and I can swap spools and line types between the setups if desired. A couple spare spools purchased separately goes along way when it comes to line maintenance when your reels brand/model are the same. So I have many Siena 50 series and 100 series reels

I like the Shimano brand the most… especially the Siena models front and rear drag for the price point. I’ve never had a problem with any Shimano reel even those I’ve purchased since the early eighties. I still have and use a Shimano Speed Master CX1000SQ Quick Fire circa 1985. Long term reliability sets very well with me. The brand is smooth and reliable in operation.

I am also satisfied with the Pflueger Trion series of reels with that under 30.00 price point.

I'll say over the years I have used them all and now I only buy pflueger reels. They are dependable and don't break the bank. I bought 3 this week to put on the 3 new 8' rods but in all honesty I did buy one of these for my granddaughter.

Thanks guys, knew there would be some experienced hands speak up, y'all are such a resource for info.

Thats a good idea about buying several reels of the same model, being able to swap spools/line wt is a good idea and only takes a few seconds.

Ive always had to do my own repairs, not a place within forever of here that I know of for that, but for the most part Ive had good service of most reels, have a couple Mitchell 300's (aint nothing ultra light about them tho, but cant wear them out) that I bought when I was in high school and they still work as new,

Think a trip to civilization is in need so I can stop at the big outdoor stores to tinker with some reels, Im OCD to no end so pick'n things out can be a ...reel drag,  (HA !!!  sorry guys, couldnt stop myself.)

Stopped in at the Sportsmans warehouse Friday and spent some time test driving reels, have to say the Pflueger reels are nice, tinkered with 3 or 4 sizes, looked at what (not many) Shimanos they had, diawas seemed nice but had one years ago they was ok at best so not to quik to jump on one, also checked out an Okuma, not bad but didnt lite my fire.

Its gonna be between a Shimano or the Pflueger.

I HAVE SEVERAL OF THE PFLUGER SPINNING REELS, MODEL TRION-I 20.  I AM PRIMARILY A UL FISHERMAN, AND REALLY LIKE THE FEEL AND HANDLING OF THIS REEL.  I NEVER USE ANYTHING HEAVIER THAN 4LB. LINE, AND THESE LITTLE REELS HOLD A LOT OF 4LB LINE!!  MY BEST PRICE WAS AT WALLY WORLD.  JUST MY OPNION TILL YOU GET A BETTER ONE.!!

If you have a Dicks sporting goods over your way Marvin the trion which has 4 to 6 bearings at Dicks the same reel is called the gold medalist a souped up Trion has 8 bearings.  Those are the reels I started out on in the Pflueger line. Now I have about every reel they make they are great reels for the money and haven't let me down yet. The 20 is the UltraLite the smallest they make..

JOHNNY;; FOR WHAT ITS WORTH;;  LIKE MOST GUYS ON HERE AT BBG;; I ALSO HAVE A PRESIDENT REEL;; VERY NICE AND SMOOTH;;; ALSO; I HAVE A QUANTUM; - Q-VEX10;; THATS REAL SMOOTH;; ALSO HAVE A EXTREMLY OLD;; DAWAI 1000C  ( FROM TH E 70;S)   THAT ONE;; IS VERY ULTRA LIGHT;; AND TONS OF FUN !   JUST DEPENDS;; ON WHAT YOUR OWN; PERSONNEL LIKES ARE IN THE REELS
