Do you love big bluegill?
This nesting pair was none too happy when I decided to fish their downed cypress tree......once the chicks hatch it will get ugly trying to fish this spot.....

Yeah most nests are not this close to the water and this river is remote with alligators and large populations of black bears ….as far as the Cormorants, our favorite vacation spot in the Outer Banks is on Pond Island,NC….year round the cormorants are working the saltwater bays and coves eating fish, crabs, eels……as you stated it often looks like their working together…their droppings are toxic and kills the cypress trees that they roost in here….
Guess the Osprey knew it was a great spot too. The Cormorants up here are murder on the stocked Trout .Pissing off the Trout Men. Sometimes there are gangs of Cormorants working the basin areas where its around 40 feet at Shepherds Lake .
This was a great fishing spot for me until the osprey nested……I’ve seen chicks in that nest several years….
