started fishing a new lake with reports of good gills coming from there

i started fishing a lake that is close by. i have heard a lot of good reports about good gills there. been there twice this week and no luck. 6 nice gills first trip, 7 the next. cannot find the fish. the lake is deep with steep drop offs any one have any suggestions.

Are you getting into the fish? It has been unseasonably cold here, but I did have a 44 fish trip the other day, with a pair of 10 inch gills being the largest. Went down to 32 degrees last night.
