Jim I have seen someone shine a lazier pointer light in an aquarium and the fish go after it something to think about.

the eyes on this damsel nymph will glow as i swim it along the weed line.wether this matters to the fish or not remains to be seen

natural light would be the light source dick.this was all an accidental discovery.like a fiber optic replacement on a front gun sight.if the side of the material is exposed to light it transmits the light to the ends.like those novelty flash lights or decorations that have filaments that glow on the ends.

Jim don't you need a light source to make the fiber optic work just asking I don't know a think about it but does sound interesting.

Didn't think about that Carl but the stuff I got is nearly as thick might be a little smaller in diameter.

Comment by carl hendrix on February 14, 2015 at 12:16pm

have you guys thought of using-- weed eater line??  or is that stuff to thick??

Comment by jim cosgrove on February 14, 2015 at 11:51am

thanks Dick but this stuff i got actually transmits light thru it like a fiber optic.hard to explain.wont have time for any tying but will better document some of the stuff i am doing.i used this stuff on a whim and it had the added benefit of glowing in sunlight

Jim I have some 100 lb test mono leader I was going to try for larger eyes if it works out I have a 50 yard spool and you would like some I can send you some if you like. I'll be attempting it here soon and let you know how it works.

mark - the results were unexpected as i am obsessed with making a damsel nymph that works.i did not have any mono heavy enough so i found that stuff in a box.probably got it at a craft store.
