the rubber band flies i tried looked good to me too ,but not the fish as you say.i think they want something that moves subtlely

I tied some grubs with spiraled rubber bands a long time ago. They looked and felt pretty good but didn't catch as many fish as I expected. I think they they had that eraser smell. But silicone wouldn't have that problem.

andy-i used to have some flies with an extended body made from latex gloves.i still dont know how they did itcaught tons of fish on them and they really smacked it.i have a few ponds i fish with mayfly hatches and the fish go crazy.i saw the silicone thing in a tying magazine years ago.i love foam poppers and spiders but the fish dont always

Amazing! I love the use of the alternate materials. My best SW flies are streamers made from a poly feather duster. You have the gears turning with the silicone...

thanks tooty-a lot of time on my hands.definately not a production bug.but ithink it will be quite durable.i glued the wings on with uv glue and they are wyt tougher than if tied on.

carl-eyes are that stretch cord stuff kids make bracelets out of dipped in uv cure.has fiber optic effect in the sunlight that makes the eyes glow

the body is uv dubbing spun on a needlecovered in dubbing wax. then thin coats of clear silicone caulk.the tail is crystal flash kind of pushed into the tacky silicone.not my idea i just made some improvements.it feels like a waxworm if you squeeze it.
