Do you love big bluegill?
There’s a war going on out there and the battlefield is your own fishing budget or wallet. I was truly amazed when I turned the corner at my favorite wholesale outlet… the fishing aisles were completely made over. The areas were expanded more fishing rod selections etc including the line aisle… which really caught my eye!... so many consumer choices!!
This is the place to give your own personal reviews, studies, opinions on your favorite lines and applications. Remember its to the point now with so many variables and specifications some lines are better suited for different applications of fishing than other lines. However many people prefer to keep it simple and do it all with one line… Either way fish happy,
The group is designed to inform ask questions and give reviews.
also any hints or tips pertaining to fishing lines... knots etc.

Casting further is not always a precedent for me .I want to get a good hook set so rarely feel i need to cast to the extreme of what is possible with the line /rod /reel I'm using .More importantly i want sensitivity, little memory and toughness for the conditions and fish i encounter .
Braid has its place in fishing for sure. Personally I have used it I have it strung on a couple poles but find myself constantly going back to the Fluorocarbon. Fluorocarbon cast easier and farther in my opinion using smaller baits. Back when I fished for Bass I may have give it a better review since we are casting larger baits. As far as bite offs from Pike I had vary few using Fluorocarbon with a spinner bait or crank baits on it. I did find using rubber I would have a few bite off since it engulfed the whole thing.
The negatives I've heard from others that use braid are " it's a pain to tie another lure on " and "When you get a line tangle it's a real pain". I still have not used it . Currently catching fish /losing some on Mono and Co-polymer.
I just bought some 8# test Pline CXX at the local shop .300 yds for $8.99 is one dollar cheaper I've seen on the net . Gonna try this copolymer on the casting rods for over the weed tops for Bass , Pickerel and panfish .Pickerel will cut through I'm sure unless I have some length to the hooks or crankbaits I'm throwing .
Just found Gliss on sale at Cabelas for 10.49/150yds...2# test mono diameter with 8# test strength. i feel invincible throwing my UL jigs around on my Micro-Lite spinning rig with this stuff!
Yes, I'm finding the Pline Premium CX has much better sensitivity when hooking and fighting fish then regular mono .I also like that it's not nearly as stiff as Fluro .It's a great line stepping up from cheaper monos I've had a surplus of for years . I still need more time but the line has given me only satisfaction in the few times catching while using this co- polymer. It basically feels like mono but has way less memory and fewer (non yet ) tangles.
NOT A BRAIDED LINE. It's a copolymer ;Flurocarbon coated mono. Not as stiff as Flurocarbon .I've only used it once so give me time . I use improved clinch knots like i do on mono.
HEY JOHN;; LET ME KNOW HOW THAT PLINE WORKS OUT FOR YOU ! IS IT A BRAID LINE ?? WHAT TYPE OF KNOTS WORK BEST WITH IT ? HOW DOES IT CAST ? IM ALWWAYS INTERESTED IN OTHER TYPE OF LINES;; AND MIGHT EVEN TRY IT !
"Yeah, I'm a mono man. I keep coming back to mono time
after time. Why? Cost. Butt load of line for dirt cheap."
Damon I believe there is an argument for economy when it comes to braid vs mono. Up front cost yes cheeper...but not in the long haul when you consider life of the line. I just removed 10 yr old spider-wire braid off of my wifes set-up. It was still good in strength and condition… it was just too short for casting. I remember paying 10.00 for the spool… that’s $1.00/season for the rig. With no maintenance! I used to swap and maintain mono at least twice a season on my rigs with over 30 rigs in my possession would break me at the bank with mono and time in maintenance.
DICKY;; YOUR VERY CORRECT ON THAT BUDDY ! AND; TO ADD TO IT;; SPINNING REELS; INTERNALS;; ARE MADE WRONG ! EVEN THE MANUFACTURES WILL TELL THAT ! AT SOME POINT; EVEN IF YOU PUT THE LINE ON CORRECTLY; DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN POSSIBLY DO ;; ITS GOING TO TWIST ;; NO ESCAPING THAT ! WHAT I TRY TODO; WHEN I DO USE A SPINNING REEL;; I DO USE ; REEL MAGIC OIL; ON MY SPOOL AND LINE;; REALLY HELPS IN KEEPING THE TWIST OUT; FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF FISHING; AFTER A FEW HHOURS; I TAKE EVERYTHING OFF THE LINE; ; THEN PEEL THE LINNE OFF; AND DRAG IT BEHIND MY BOAT; AFTER ITS DOWN TO THE VERY BEGINNING; I RE-WIND IT;; HELPS A LOT THAT WAY;; AND ESPECIALLY;; AT THE END OF MY FISHING TRIP ! IN THAT WAY; NEXT TIME I GO; THE ROD N REEL IS READY -- FOR A GOOD FEW HOURS !
