I grew up in New England & spent many happy days ice fishing. Before cable TV & the internet and with one two TV stations there wasn't much else to do, so yeah for what's it worth I think ice fishing qualifies.

Here's my favorite beer batter fish recipe!
1 C flour
1 egg
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
Enough beer to make a nice batter.
The type of beer will determine the taste. I used Sam Adams Pilsner
Dry fillets, sprinkle both sides with salt & pepper, dredge in flour. Then the batter & fry.
I had plenty of batter left over so I sliced some onions dipped them in them in the batter & had beer batter onion rings to go with my fish. Best with a cold beer. Enjoy!
Warning guys! Be prepared for a mess in the kitchen. So to keep the wife happy do the cleanup. Or cook outside on the grill. Wish I had thought of that yesterday!
My grandson on that's him on the left is a great fisherman. Usually catches more fish than me. He just came up w/ a bait he calls "Fishing Putty" made w/flour, soda, peanut butter & cinnamon. Sitll working to perfect the recipe, but he tried it at a local pond & it was deadly!
