Foam Bugs/ Kreinik Braid 3 Replies

Below are 3 foam bluegill/crappie, perch, etc. bugs I tied recently. I used Kreink Braid for the under-body to add a little flash, and also for a tail. There is no end to uses for the Kreink Braid. I…Continue

Jim, those are some nice-looking bugs!

I tie some similar for ice fishing. I use all glow in the dark materials.

those are more micro jigs than flies Dick.i tie these for fishing below a float tipped with bait.a little wave action brings them to life.i do tie similar flies but they would be smaller and debarbed

I like your flies Jim they look good have to find me more recipes after I get these poppers done. I'll check on Ebay would like a few 3mm Tungsten beads. 4's are a little big.

Comment by jim cosgrove on March 5, 2017 at 3:20pm

i think some of the ebay dealers sell an assortment of the beads too.nice to generous Dick, god knows we need more of that.gotta have a stash just for you and the folks that really appreciate your work.

i hear ya Dick.the slotted beads work on any jig hook.the regular counter sunk ones will work on any straight or curved hook or the 60 degree fly jig hooks.you can put the bead on a straight pin and lash it forward of the eye to get a weight forward effct

Another comment on slotted beads. It changes to balance point if you put the bead on hole first or slot first.

I get my tungsten beads from here:

http://www.riplipsfishing.com/store/tungsten-slotted-disco-beads/

I use the disco beads, more flash, about $18.00/100. Plain slotted are about $14.00/100. I use them on jig hooks, dry fly and straight.

I think the slotted Tungsten beads would be great for jig hooks and plain for straight shank hooks. I will get a few to try I really like the anodized ones.

Thanks Jim. My problem is I try to buy in bulk and I have shopped around for the Tungsten beads but they are a tad out of my price range. I guess if I got a few to just try out that would be OK but I don't get out a lot and wouldn't want to be in the practice of giving them away like I do everything else.
