If you all heard a sonic boom coming from the Texas direction, that was me running down to my creek and pond with the new circle hooks my aunt found and mailed to me. This was after I received 2 separate packages of the wrong hooks from Sportsman Guide, and the wrong hooks from Cabela's my son mailed me from Boise, ID. So, I was almost afraid to open the letter from my aunt in OK because I didn't want to be disappointed. Yippee, they are really circle hooks. Caught a couple bluegills with them too

Glad you caught them, so far, all I've seen are black snakes.

Saw a cotton mouth in my small pond, but never could see it soon enough to kill it. Made a cage out of chicken wire, put in some small bream, and next morning went out and found two cotton mouths in the cage. They ate the bream and then couldn't get back out the wire. Two less snakes to deal with now. Rebaited the trap and see what happens..

Well, I decided to try my creek again, hoping for some fish. Caught 1 6" catfish, 1 5" bluegill (beautiful with a red belly), got a crappie I think, but it got away. There are lots of fish there, I got a bite every time I dropped a worm in the water. They're good at getting the worms off the hook without getting caught.

My two ponds are connected by about a hundred foot long creek. I stocked my smaller pond with fat head minnows as well as the creek. Gives them a place to get away from the predator fish. I ran a water line from my well to keep water in the creek during summer. A float valve keeps the water at about four inches deep year round.

I'm thinking of stocking my creek with something besides bluegill. I can buy LMB or black crappie. What do you recommend? Can't stock trout, it's too hot in TX.

I have a creek about 600' long on my property. Though it is the overflow from a 400 acre lake, there don't seem to be any fish in it. So, I have two questions: is it illegal to block fish from travel down stream if I don't block the water? And, if I were to put stock fish in this creek, what kind would do well without me feeding them. Seem to be a lot of bugs around for them to eat.

I have a questions about creek fish. If the fish can't go back upstream to the lake they came from because of the overflow pipe being too high, and they can't go downstream easily because of a large amount of branches, etc that have washed into a pile, do they swim up and down the creek like a pacing animal or hide somewhere? Also, if there is nothing blocking them, will a fish swim upstream or downstream forever?

Thanks for starting this group, Mark. Great idea!

I like to fish anywhere I can find a wet spot, but the creeks and rivers are my favorite places. There's just something about drifting down a lazy stream, pitching crickets under the bushes! I do most of my fishing in the lake, because it is so close to home, but I usually end up finding a feeder stream to explore/exploit even when fishing there.
