Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My wife and I will leave Thursday morning as soon as we put the kids on the bus. Headed down to Big Cedar Lodge, on Table Rock Lake for a couple days of pond and fish therapy. A few things I'm looking forward too:

SDSU's fisheries department will be showing how they age fish, using otoliths and scales....perfect, since I've been experimenting with aging by scales myself.

An electrofishing survey demonstration , by Shawn Banks.

Everything you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask, concerning: aeration, water quality, feeding, fish diseases, etc....

Our own Bruce Condello is scheduled to address the crowd....my heart skipped a beat, then I learned he will be discussing growing giant Bass...Dang it. (I'm still looking forward to it, however)

With luck, I'll have some photos to share when we get back on Sunday. Unless I can beg, steal, or borrow someone's laptop, I will be incommunicado after tomorrow night. Thought I would check in now, since it usually gets hectic going down to the wire.

Rest assured, I will have nothing but good things to say about the fine folks on BBG....I'm already looking forward to catching up on everything I'm going to miss!

Have a safe trip and we also look forward to anything worth sharing with the group......Enjoy!

I don't even own a pond and it sounds exciting. Be safe, and have fun!

Have a great time Tony! Tell Bruce and Bob Lusk I said hello. Tell Lusk that I finally learned how to really set the hook on a fish....he'll laugh and know what I'm talking about!

Fabulous! So many knowledge-loaded masters will be there. Jealous!! Make sure to borrow Bruce's iPhone/Android. He won't mind missing his electronic for a few hours..right? LOL

It's going to be amazing!!  So much fun, and so much learning.  I live for stuff like this.

By the way, every other conference I've gone on and on about bluegill.  I finally get to do something different.

Just make sure to end your presentation of knowledge and wisdom with some spectacular fireworks. They can then say in the future, "Bruce has left the building.."

Yes, growing up on a lake in northern Indiana and never fished in a pond, it does all sound very exciting and a great learning experiance. I'm looking forward to trying some pond fishing someday.

Almost time to go, leavin' early in the mornin'....

I hope my brain can absorb at least a portion of the knowledge without exploding!

Somebody catch one for me......

I hope they're recording this. I want a DVD!

I got you covered there Tony....

Sounds like an interesting and great time. Hope everything works out for you and tell Bruce I said hi.
