Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Mine is my grandson Andrew, he arrives tonight on a flight from Texas, and will be with me for the next month. He is 12 now and getting so big, he even wears the same size shoe I do. He is the best when it comes to partners, always ready to fish, up at the crack of dawn, and would rather fish than tube or knee board. He moans when I say it's time to go home after a full day on the lake. The odd thing is he only fishes with me, seldom at home. I guess I should be honored as this is the one special thing he gets to do with his Papa.

Sounds like a great kid to have along. You are fortunate to have him.

As for my best partner? Well, its really a bunch of people - all the people here at BBG, of course!

I would have to say its a toss up between my dad and my four year old.  I like going with my dad because its how I learned to fish.  He taught me what I know about fishing.  However my little girl is becoming quite interested in fishing.  Her birthday is later this month and she told me she wants to go fishing on her birthday.  (Tear, Im so proud of her).  In a perfect world I would be out with both of them but that seems to rarely work out.
Jim & Led-Hed... are about the best company there is when it comes to Bluegill fishing... Having said that I went with my boy (he's 21 now) June 7th for the first time in several years... and it took me back to the good ole days when he was a 'Sprog'... he had the same smile on his face when he landed a nice Bull Gill and for a Dad... there's nothing that can come close to that...
I stopped after work tonight and picked up two tubes of crickets at Walmart so we can go fishing in the morning before I have to go to work. He is here now and ready to go, can't wait to hit the lake in the morning.

You are a lucky person. Mine is my grand daughter Bailey, she is 5 yrs old. She will stay over the night before and if she feels me moving she is up and ready to fish. LOL To her the 2nd best put is gutting the fish. When we pull into the ramp at Ruby's she tells everyone to come over to see ALL the big fish she and her Omi got. And of course..."Omi cut them with the knife but I gutted them .. that is MY JOB". Those of us who can share this time with our grand children are very lucky. God bless

Mine is my granddaughter Cheyenne who loves to fish. She was putting worms on but her sister told her that wasn't lady like and she quit. I told her to be a complete fisher person you have to do it all. Now she puts her own worms on again. She does practice catch and release takes her own fish off and its cute how she releases them she grabs them by the lower lip and releases them gently back into the water. She now wants to learn to fish with artificial bait cause she see's me using them. She is a fast learner for being 10 and I think she will do quit well. She is my fishing partner and loves to fish, been doing so since she was 4.
I have a lot of great fishing buddies but my best is my son Evan, wouldn't say it to his face but that kid can out fish me on any given day. He's a natural..patient, loves the day for whT it gives him, and always appreciative for a day with dad. Can't wait to be with his kid in a boat....doubt if I'll remember more than the smile on my face....
My best fishing partner is my best friend.....my wife! I am very lucky to have my wife as my best friend! It's just us two now and as property managers we are at different places about every 1 to 3 years. We work, live on site, and play together all the time. Do you know how hard it is to find someone you can be with 24hrs a day every day, every week, every month, every year? I do have to bait her line and remove the fish (most of the time) but that's a small price to pay. We took over a property in Baton Rouge LA about a year ago and bought a boat a couple of months later. We spend 90% of our days off (Mon & Tue) out in the swamps & bayou fishing and watching gators!
My fiance Jessica is my favorite partner, I am happiest when she is catching fish and vice versa. She also loves to document our lives with the camera, the fish, the surroundings, all of it and for that I am grateful.
