Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Finally got out to fish! Been a while. Broke in my new rod (JDM Mebaru 7' 6") with this nice 1 1/4 pounder. Caught slow trolling on Sonny's 1/48 oz chub belly spinner and 2 lb Izorline xxx. I forgot just how hard these big fish fight, especially on this long sensitive rod, when you have 70 feet of line out!

Yeah John, it was 58-59 degrees, a little cold for our Southern California Bluegill to be active.  Fishing was slow, we only got a couple of fish.  But there was a cold front coming, plus a full moon.  Fishing should really pick up in the next few weeks, if we ever get some sunshine for a few days.

Get a water temp? Took one here yesterday at an inflow pipe and it was 42 degrees. Hope its close to or above 50 by the time i take the boat out next Thursday for the 1st 2019 voyage.
