Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

The waters edge is thick with a mass of newly hatched tadpoles. They at small, about 1/4"-1/2". My thinking is the gill would take them, or a fly that looks like them, over the next month.

A little piece of ultra chenille for a tail and some black dubbing tied with black thread will do the trick. ......Don

The fish are in two inches of water right now, grabbing any tadpoles they can.
I don't think very many survive this onslaught.
I tossed a floating spider right in the mix today, and it was immediately grabbed. Three feet away - nuttin.
I'm thinking a bit of black chenille and and some marabou would do the trick.

Love the seasons when the pollies play near the beds. Rather than plastic, I pull out a few of the ultra slow sink flies, twitch twitch, and it's game's on. The craziest thing is, I can never seem to find frogs or toads a few weeks later, yet, tons of pollies to start out.

Same here Jeff, the few times I've put them on a hook - they were ignored.

I've had better luck trying to mimic these guys rather than using the real thing.....don't know if the dark colors hurt me or if nature has provided them with some protection that I'm not aware of........

"Teeming" is the word that comes to mind.
