My Dad makes a lot of his own tackle.  Lately we have been jigging on trout ponds through the ice.  Dad soldered hooks to some willow leaf spinner blades and they work great for lots of things.  He made all different sizes and I've caught bluegill, bass, brown rainbow and brook trout, and northerns on them.  The Secret Weapon flutter spoons look a lot like them.  We paint them Chartruese, flo. orange, and use prism tape.  Top with a waxie or minnow half.  You'll need to pre-heat the willow leaf blade before soldering.  We used a bernz-o-matic.

Using a little float stop helps contain the spinner near the spoon when casting It keeps it from sliding up the line .

Under muddy conditions I like to add a spinner ,for the extra vibration ,to a small Spoon for Gills/Perch/Crappie.I just lift and drop and after a few times I find on the lift they have it and are swimming away with it.Fish on! Worked quite well last year first time using it.

I FISH STUMPS TOO. ALL I DO IS USE LIGHT WIRE HOOKS, BASS PRO 4 lb. LINE, CLINCH KNOT. I USUALLY BEND HOOK AND RELEASES. YOU CAN TAKE NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS AND BEND HOOK AT BEND 2X WHEN IT HOOKS UP USUALL THE HOOK WILL BREAK. BUT, U STILL HAVE TO TIE ON ANOTHER. SO, U CATCH FISH U TIE ON HOOKS. NICE TRADEOFF.

The places I fish usually have a lot of submerged structure, such as logs, stumps, etc. This stuff is great cover for Bluegills, but also gives you ample opportunity to get hung up. A fella can spend half the day rerigging instead of fishing!:-/ I have started using a very light leader, like 2 or 4 pound line, with nothing but the hook on it. On the top end of the leader, I tie a simple overhand loop, which is easily and quickly attached to the barrel swivel I put on the main line with the rest of my tackle. Now when I get hung and have to break the line, all I lose is the hook, and it takes about as long to replace it as it does to put on a fresh cricket. ;-)
