Good Fishing In Alabama In Mild Weather 12/2012 2 Replies

I had the tremendous opportunity to do a little fishing while visiting my mother in Alabama. The weather was great, snakes were in hideout mode, the banks were pretty safe. My cousin took me to this…Continue

Good group and good ideas here. About 95 % of my bluegilling is done from shore.

Yea, Dwayne, I had a boat years ago but found I go fishing more now without one.  Can't use bloat tubes down here in Louisiana, too many gators, but if I was a regular size man I would have a kayak.  But alas, they don't make them to carry enough weight for me to feel safe in one.  And frankly, kayaks sit so low I would be wary of some of the bigger gators we see when fishing.

John, good to hear from you. I had a boat, but sold it. Too much work, I fish alot alone. Thought about a float tube, I am too big a guy and me and snakes don't get along well.

My fishing buddy and I both have those 5gal buckets that have the swivel seats on them.  We can carry our tackle in the bucket and have a place to sit as well.  Bank fishing is what we have to do as neither one of us has enough funds to own a boat but we make due and enjoy our time on the water.

Nice way for two retired guys to waste a few hours.

I have my fishing bucket {w/seat} too, but when I'm not walking the bank hitting different spots I use a comfy chair.

Speaking of seats or chairs, what does everyone use?
Comment by Dwayne Denison on August 25, 2011 at 1:29pm

Derrick, that why i use a 5 gallon bucket, with a seat on it.

I just need to find the right sized rock to get my chair to quit rockin'.

Remember when a bobber was a bobber and a cork was a cork. Bobbers were plastic and corks were cork. Thats all we had or needed.

As I get a little older, I'm coming full circle to enjoyment of the simple pleasures of life. Bank fishing for bluegill is THE BEST!!
