That's terrible. I hardly know what to say.
Can't wait to get home next spring and try out some of your fishing tips. Thanks The Feltons in Afghanistan
Chicken Liver has worked the best for me so far in my pond, but it is hard to keep the GSF off of it. Then again the GSF will eat anything you throw in the water. Worm, minnow, liver, shrimp, catfish bait, etc. Just have to keep up the work, but I am sure they have slowed down by now. I plan to try to fish in a few days when I take some fish from my tank at home to throw in the pond.
My all time favorite catfish bait would have to be cut up strips of BG. Turtles are fond of them also, however.
Try shrimp, Cardell. The small fish won't be able to eat it off the hook. Channel cats will also bite whitefish fillets like you buy in the supermarket - just cut off a big chunk and put it on the hook.
I seldom caught more than 1 catfish at a time. I think they shake the line too much. It got so I only baited one hook. Strangely enough, sometimes the catfish would bite the empty hook. I know the turtles ate some of the bait, but I never caught one on a hook. I would only bait the hook in the morning and evening. And, not at all in the fall and winter as the catfish are hibernating here in Tx
I set trotlines 3 times a day. The first 2 days I caught about 12 and nothing since. Its been a week. And I have tried several different baits. But something is taking my baits. Im thinking its little fish eating the baits away before the cats get a chance to get to them

Sharon how did you remove the catfish from your pond? Someone just suggested a hoopnet to me. Im going to try that
