I'm trying to get all of my panfish stuff into one tackle box. Right now I typically use Plano storage containers, but I'm trying to get them all organized into just one box. I would like for this…Continue

I'm curious how hard it is to catch BG in winter months on small private ponds (lets say an acre or less).Assuming they haven't iced over yet, is it even worth my time? I'm guessing you'd just bump…Continue

Not that I expect anyone to know this, but I wasn't taught how to fish per se. Most things I have to figure out for myself or thanks to the internet, learn on youtube :). I was out on the lake the…Continue

So up to today I have had to have unexpected surgery on my wrist which will prevent me from fishing until fall. The good news here, I have health insurance.
Last week or so, we had all the rain and it turned a little creek (2" deep) into a 5' river. This in turn flooded my house. Good news, kids safe and I have minimal damage. Mold is the only looming concern.
This river though, it filled my pond up. Thats great since I had drained it and killed off the…

Thanks to many discussions with Walt through email and phone, I think the Male only approach is going to happen.
I plan to Rotenone the pond so that we can start clean. I will be stocking a ton of Grass Shrimp and Papershell crayfish. I will also be adding freshwater clams and probably two types of minnows.
I'll be purchasing an aerator and an automatic feeder to try and help everything out. Then come spring time, I will be fertilizing the pond as…

So in my attempt to find what I need to do with my pond, I wanted to find out how the LMB population looked. So far it's hit or miss. The bluegill population seems to be seriously lacking, but the water is cold.
I'm trying to find out if Tilapia are legal in Maryland so I can get them to eat up some of the vegetation in the pond. I will keep fishing and start taking some notes on the actual numbers to help me move forward.
Here's the best bass that was…

Hey Chris...sorry you missed the seminar. We had about two dozen sit down folks and some onlookers outside of the seminar area. Talked on drop- shot, grass shrimp and about panfish catch and release ethics. I thought it went well and they want me to do more for the early summer. It was fun!
Thank you I would be honored to be a friend on your friends list. Any time I can help please jump in and ask away. If I don't know the answer we'll find it out some how some where or if you just want to talk feel free I love to talk especially fishing.
Larry, if it took you two years to get your coppernose to five ounces you've got something seriously out of whack with your pond. You should be able to grow them to at least seven ounces in one year where you live; I've grown them bigger than that in one year here in middle TN.
Hey Chris, I'de be leary of coppernose that far north. I live in southern Mississippi. And though I can't prove it, I believe that when my pond froze over 2 winters ago, That I lost almost all of my big ones. Its taken me two seasons to get them up to about 4 or 5 ounces again. May not happen to you, but its a real bummer if it does. Just sayin, Larry P.
