Thanks Brian.....it was too late by the time I saw I missed your call.....we'll be in touch...hope you had a great fourth.......

Just chugging along Brian.....we're stuck in this up and down weather pattern so the water temperatures are following suit.......However, it is March and things will gradually improve...Looking forward to a great season and all indications are good at this point......White Perch anglers in Carolina have begun to search for their favorite panfish which normally picks up here when water temperatures steady out above 50.....All of my fishing improves greatly around Good Friday and often a little earlier to align with the first days of Spring.......Got to get old man winter out of here and shut the door behind him!  See you soon and good luck on the water.....

I don't use any type of leader material Brian but it depends more on the water you fish in my opinion.....Take the Cooper River in South Carolina for example......MANY successful Coppernose anglers fish with a leader near or on bottom and catch big coppernose and shellcrackers alike....This occurs in tidal/tannic water...I think you could still catch staging fish in my region but I would be hesitant in the shallows but I must admit I employ heavy cover monofilament more than 90% of the time.....I cannot be convinced that it impacts my fishing negatively although more folks like smaller line and I certainly don't blame them for using their preference when it comes to any tackle......I believe you could still catch Coppernose in tannic waters with a leader but it would not be my preferred method....I like to use jigs and bugs and the heavier line I use, I know I'm robbing these baits of some of their action thus I add a live bait tip for best results.....

Thanks for the invite Brian.....counting down the days for sure.....winter fishing although challenging and rewarding to catch a few fish......I prefer the 8 to 9 months out of the year that I can enjoy the many scenic locations and all that mother nature has to offer here in coastal Carolina and Southeast Virginia......I'm convincced that the fierce bite we take part in during the early spring comes from the fish turning on from a relative hibernation period.....Easter is always great fishing in this region and I suspect 2013 will follow suit, no reason to believe any different at this point......

Same Here Brian, the lake has a lot of potential and it will be interesting to watch it progress.....We'll get you down here as soon as things pick up......Things can take off for me around Easter and even March for a good Crappie bite.....The last month has definitely been challenging with so much variation in temperatures...75 one day and 40 the next....Forecast for the remainder of January looks the same for us here in Carolina...some teens in the forecast but some 60s too.......We'll be in touch Brian....don't know about Deep Creek Lake.....don't remember seeing any posts here on that lake.....

Welcome aboard Brian to the bigbluegill.com. At this site we have lots and lots of information all you have to do is look, learn and enjoy. We have blogs that are interesting in themselves each one loaded with information all we have to do is look at them read them and learn from them. We have forums another tool to spread information on the site either in a question or shared gathered information so don't be afraid to participate, its a learning tool we can all learn something from. If we have knowledge of the subject matter please share so we can learn also, we all want to learn that's why where here. On the site is tons of information for us to fine tune our skills. When we do get to go out and fish we are learning maybe even using some of our new learned skills. Don't be afraid to share your fishing experiences with us we would love to hear about them. We have one of the best photo sections I know of anywhere put in by the members. There are fish pictures not just bluegills but lots of different species with lots of the quality picture's. Again it's there for us to use and get lost in all those quality photo's. No site would be complete without a video section and we have a great one with lots of video's to look at. There is so much to see on the site you can't help but to learn something about fishing and that's really why we are here to learn and have fun doing it. Then last of all we have a chat line which is very under utilized but there to use, you must be logged on to participate in any activity other than that it is read only. Enjoy our site and learn so we can become better fisherman and in turn enjoying our sport a little bit more. Have fun with the site and GOODFISHIN..
