Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is such a great unit that ive had already for two seasons and yet each time i take it out on a trip i feel like ive learned something new. i will be posting hints tips and tricks and screenshot interpretations as i grow with this unit. hopefully we can all learn from each other on the same or similar units.

i basically only use it with te elite 4 a very small compact FF. i also use it looking at maps etc with my Elite 7 .. it lasts 4 ever with the Elite 4 a much smaller unit

i only use the Elite 4 on the Kayak

can anyone spot the fish in this picture?

Quite a bit of a handful on the left. It appears to have  few hugging the bottom. Either scattered weeds on the right, or very small fishes. Lots of static noises and small baitfishes/frys at the top. 14:14hrs, at 74.9F, roughly at 18.5ft, they should be actively gorging, rather than suspending.

Looks like the bottom has a very hefty sediment buildup. Is it near an eluvial sandbar or delta/inlet?

caught a few crappies out of this school lightly drifting and vertically jigging over the school with a ice jig and 1 inch gulp minnow.... very light bite .... lost a tank at the net 15+... but something was wrong i could feel it. well after talking with some locals they applied herbicide just days prior. . what you see on the bottom is weed beds knocked down from its effect. great timing on my part. new lake with poor results.

look at this dsi image of this school looking at my boat .... hmmm

Nice school Ken

TRANSDUCER SONAR COVERAGE CHART

OOooo..Is this your evaluation, or compilation from a group of people?

my chart and someone else s sketch. i really had a different image in my mind on how downscan imaging worked... until now

i have countless images or screenshots of bluegill shooting up to my boat and i am able to catch them on a slip bobber set usually 2-3 ft in over 20 ft of water.... anybody willing to guess why the fish are responding in this way... i believe i have the answer.

Clear water, suspended at 15 to 20ft, looking up, and wanting to gorge since nothing is down below. They just hovered, looking up for a good sinking meal. Awesome image.
