Cool, you're a celeb!

You look good in the hat, too!

I miss my other hat......

I know. But your new one looks very fishy.

corp of engineers does more harm than good in my area.nice area out there Allan

Thanks.  That dam is HUGE!  18 tainter gates, 9 sluice gates.  300 yards to the opposite bank.  There are some BIG fish swimming around in here.

Interesting Jim. What modifications have they pushed through in your areas? I see the rising water may cause topographical saltwater intrusion into the groundwater supply, or flooding issues may be due to the arrival of the 75 to 100 years storm events?

leo-they fix one problem and create 3.in my opinion they tax us to subsidize river commerce.all these locks, dams etc benefits a few industries.meanwhile we have flooding pollution.the fish are coming back slowly .the reversal of the chicago river was the start of all this,we do not have enough heavy industry left in illinois to justify the up keep of this type of infrastructure for barges anymore

LOL!! That I know too well. They fix one thing to benefit the society, and in the process, created cascade effects because the engineers, like all human, can't see far into the future of all the cascading issues.

As for the structures, once it's installed, not maintaining the structure will lead to more headaches. Best just to create a sealing structure, which also require maintenance..one cascading headache to the next.

OK Allen your a star you hit the big time. Hope you can make it through the inconvenience alright.

Actually, Dick, I think I'm done fishing that spot for awhile.  The COE just isn't running the turbines, and it's current-flow that really gets the fish biting.  That, and trout season opens up this Friday on my home lake :)

Congrats! and well said! People only think of the inconvenient that the construction activities bring. However, without the retrofit for the existing structures, there will be hell to pay later down the road.
