Appreciate it John…..fish was very shallow roaming looking for herring fry…….
Thanks Bruce…..these fish grow well on the available forage, crabs, shrimp, herring, shad and insect larvae…….ironically they are not considered a game fish in North Carolina so commercial fishermen have cleaned out a lot of areas…..but I catch them on all eleven river systems I fish in North Carolina and two rivers in neighboring Virginia…they spawn here in January/February when females easily top two pounds, the North Carolina state record yellow perch is 2 pounds 8 ounces, caught on a creek I fish often…..

And this one is producing a lot of eggs for the future..
looks like some good genetics there.
