Mike ,first let me say that those old lures can still catch fish but I put my old lures in a tackle box all by themselves that will never see water again, some of those might have value that you wouldn't want to lose them. Check ebay for similar lures to get an idea of their value. Shadow Boxes of old lures are cool too.    LOFR

Yeah, me too. I recently inherited some lures from my mother, and they had belonged to her father (a long time ago, he died before my parents had even met, and they were married 52 years), and among them is a near-mint Creek Chub Pikie Minnow in its original box. A couple Creek Chub order forms, a few other old lures, and a huge ancient thing that looks like a home made topwater muskie bait.

I'll post pics some day when I get some free time. We combined households with my dad and are getting our house ready to rent out, so free time is even rarer now than usual. I've almost forgotten what a lake looks like lol.

I'll never fish them, or sell them. When my children inherit them from me, they can sell them if they want - but of course, it's my hope that they'll keep them around in remembrance of their dad,and hand them down to my grandchildren some day :-)

I love collecting old lures mike fred arbogast is my favorite but have all kinds of stuff!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys, going to check ebay for similiar type lures. Some of them dont have any identifying marks such as brand name etc.......

Long time ago a student of mine gave me an old tackle box with some equipment inside. Long story short - there was an old bottle of Meek's reel oil, still full. I sent it to Langs auction site (national sales) and received a little over 500 bux when it was sold.  Steve in so la.

By the names, you have some lures that have been produced commonly. Not to be a wet blanket but reality is this:

They could be unique or rare, but judging by the names alone, I'd say odds are against it.

The suggestion to do your due diligence and research them is a good one. Let me give you a tip.

When checking ebay, keep in mind that a thing is only worth what people will pay for it. DO NOT accept "Buy IT Now" prices or current bid amounts as an indication of value. These are misleading, and using them usually leads to disappointment when the truth is finally revealed...

Instead, look on the left side of any search and you'll see a long line of filter panels. At the bottom of this list, you'll see one called, "Show Only."

Within that window, check, "Completed Listings" and "Sold Listings." This will then show the item you are searching for, but listed according to those that have actually sold and WHAT THEY SOLD FOR. This way you are not misled by seller's overpricing, or auctions that have not ended yet.

the problem with old lures or any old thing  these days is 2 fold,t.v. shows which feature these items makes people scour their attics and barns, this results in the market being flooded with items that are not as rare as everyone thought they were.the internet is the same thing.and older items were in most cases built much better, things were not as disposable so they last longer.mint in the box and odd color variations can still get top dollar for lures

Yup Jim you are right about the MIB lures.......... These are getting harder and harder to find . The other part of the equation is that lots of em are called mint and certainly are not. You got to be educated to be a collector these days and hope ya don't get stung. Now I have lures hanging on shelves with tubing on the hooks to keep the grandkids from getting hooked , but the way to go is always new in the box if you can find em . Now adays I only bid about 2-4 times a month on stuff cause they are getting expensive in new condition and they're just not the amount of em out there that there used to be.......

If you like old tackle, whitefish  press has a free on line mag called Fishing for History
