Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Well, I don't know what the heck is up with the giant Red Ears. Really starting to get concerned that they spawned deeper / elsewhere :-( Because I have yet to find a bedding area where I could really whack them.

I did scrape out a few good Gills though. This one was 12 1/4" long, and weighed 1.7 lbs..... and it fought so hard, for so long, I was just sure it was going to be a bass :-) But to my pleasant surprise ;-)

I thought the sky looked really cool today..... Beautiful weather too :-) Like 80 degrees, with a 5 mph breeze :-)

Took this shot of my truck and boat at the lake last week. My two babies ;-)

Not the best photo quality, as I actually took this shot from about 15ft away, with my 400 F5.6 lens, then cropped it a little. But I think its kinda' cool anyway....

Peace,

Fish

Sensational fish Chris...and congrats!

I see what may be a twinge of redear sunfish in this giant... a slight crescent edging on the lower portion of the eartab and darker blotches on the lower cheek of the fish...both redear traits. Barring is not as distinct as with pure bluegills, but then the lighting could be a factor here as well.

Regardless, this is an absolute 'stunner' of a fish! Congrats again! Could you run a pic of it on the photos board so we can feature?

Nice solid fish Chris and the pictures keep them coming.

Nice work Fish.....Cool pics and a nice Gill.....

Nice fish.  I bet the fight was a good one.

Right on :) Much thanks to all of you guys. Yea', that was really fun :)

Hey, I almost forgot about this shot, that I took with my other camera. Their were a pair of them.... I hope they are a breeding pair... ?

Peace,

Fish

I agree with jim, crazy hybrid.

A 4 1/2 lb. Redear is coming my way to be turned into plastic. It was caught south of you and are bedding.

I'm guessing next week should be good for you.

Nice rig and love the photographs!

Tim, great guess ! :-)

Your posting this, was one of the things that helped to keep my confidence up..... Then the Asian guy who said, "2 more weeks"... 2 weeks ago..... Then my fisheries biologist buddy, who told me everything was running late....

But now that I've got a few RE's, I am SOO confident they will be up thick next week, and I'm going to be on them ! ;-)

Thanks again for keeping me hopeful :-)

Peace,
Fish

Actually the shot of the dragonfly is VERY cool.

Excellent catch, and beautiful photos!

NICE GILL MAN
