David its a piece of 1/8 in plastic wrapped with 4lb test Fireline. I had 20 feet leftover that will be a life time of wrapping for me and it works real good.

What Allen says. Daaaaang cellphone; sometimes I don't see it changing my texts before I send them.
Thanks, guys.

He probably meant "what did you use for underbody and ribbing?"

Personally, I just use some dubbing that I have, and gold-colored wire for ribbing.

Thanks Robert. The first one took awhile to tie and they got easier with the more I tied. My problem is my big fingers get in the way of everything but guess I gotta make due.

Jen we'll see if we can lighten up a little in here than and thanks for the compliment. I really don't call it fly tying I call it therapy.

How about that, Dick? I was tinkering around with a shellback application last week, and what did I try? Stretchy plastic!.

Ive also thought of a material I used to use in my model making days - Parafilm M. This is a stretchy plastic film that is used in lab work to seal flasks, and other containers. Stretched taut, it sticks to anything. It makes a great painting mask for lures, by the way. But if only pulled out a bit, the underlying colors would show through, and the shell back would have a naturally satiny sheen.

I'll see if I can get more from the lab guys at work. Hopefully, I can. I don't have access to the lab anymore, so I'll have to do some fast negotiating.
