Steve on these I used 1/8th scud back. I usually use a clear thicker plastic which I cut into 1/8th inch strips but getting lazy and probably keep with the scud back material.

The scuds look good Dick.....what kind of covering are you using over the back ??

Yes I like 8's and 10's for Gills too #6 Aberdeen is perhaps my favorite perch hook .May be a bit small for Jumbos though

John I used your feathers up on the jigs I made and sent you (Jesse jigs).  They would be to stiff for these flies they need to have some bend or more flexible I guess so I use schlappen feathers from a chicken and have some coming from pheasants soon. As far as hook size we'll have to ask Clayton after he gets a chance to try them out since I sent these to him yesterday and they are #8's. The gap looks to be pretty good but I think if they need any changes he will let me know and we will go from there. We have to be careful not to get the hooks to big cause Bluegill mouths aren't that big so then you have to worry that the fish just peck at it and won't that the whole fly in.

Are you using the 'Jesse 'Feathers for tails? I wonder about size 6 hooks for the Jumbo Perch  Clayton suggested . What do you think?

John I anglepoise the hooks for the scuds in question are #8's not #10's.

Thanks John. I started out with #12's but run out of tying room So had to go up to a #10. I use a lot of #10 scud hooks. I'm tying some Snow White Damsel flies now with them I gave all my others away and have to replace them adding Olive to the collection. I'll post a picture when I get them done..

Those hooks work great on those scuds .What size and style hooks you working with Dick?

very nice!! I'm betting the jumbo perch are gonna destroy these!! they look exactly like fresh water shrimp! im sure the gills are going to love them as well!!

Thanks Jim I know out west this is a main food staple for perch and bluegills. I may have went overboard with all the colors usually I only make 4 colors.
