Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

On this Cold Day....My Jig is Suspended some Ten Feet Below This Quill......

The great thing about this quill......even when the jig is ten feet below.....the smallest vibrations can be detected.....I have it tuned straight up and down so it dips down very easily upon the strike with almost zero resistance....

Jeff, I usually have braid main line and a fluoro leader on my tele's.

I get the strength and the invisibility of fluoro.

12 pound mono......I don't have anything less than ten on any of my rigs......I've been punished too often when trying to go smaller...........no drag on my telescopics....lol........probably hurts the quill's effectiveness a little but not enough to matter.......

I can't get over the fact that I can see your line! I know you tangle with some bigger species, but what weight is that? I've just gotten so used to nearly invisible 4 or even 2lb stuff for the finicky gills, that anything else reminds me of weedeater line!

I love the variety of techniques used by BBG members across the land. Everyone tailors their gear and setups for the conditions they encounter, and even though they all won't work everywhere, they still produce great local catches.

Adaptation at its finest!

Thanks guys......and as Jim suggested, it was cool to watch it slide down out of view slowly but some fish just plunged it also......best part of the quill is the fact that it detects the slightest vibration and that's very important a lot of times fishing in cold water environments.......BBG member Bob Garner made the ones I fish and they work great.......Additionally, I had used an o-ring up to now but I prefer to cut down a sling shot rubber band after Carl Hendrix introduced me to it........

Man, the amount of acute observation on that quill must be at an all time high.
