Love that hidden smile. You can see how large that smile is with his eyes.  So fun to see kids land fish.

OK guys, great.  I never knew what a flier was until I went to SC, and a guy at the dock told me that it was one.  Looked it up, thought maybe.  Thanks for the clarification.

South Carolina has good populations of Fliers Greg but this fish is a standard Bluegill hen....If you go to the groups section and look in "Freinds of the Fliers" you'll see great examples including what Jacob H. referenced....Good fish and a happy child still make this picture great.....

thats a nice green bluegill i think. fliers usually have more elongated bodies and less pronounced gill flap. (under index finger). nice fish anyway and im no expert

Thanks dick tabbert.  That's my son last summer in myrtle beach (3y/o at the time).  I am pretty sure its a Flier, but part of my purpose for posting is to get confirmation on the ID of the labels I have. 


If anyone knows for sure, I'd love to hear!
