Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

After splitting wood today, I experimented a little. Not extravagant to tie, these look buggish to me.
White sparkle foam, Ice Dub, colored tags/tails of various material.
Two different styles of leg.
#6 gold Aberdeen hooks, bent-back fashion.
EYES - I strung some glass beads on plastic broom bristles and melted the ends to hold the beads on. They give the fly a bold, bug-eyed appearance.

We will see in due time if the fish approve.

Looks like you'll be having one fun time on the water in the coming seasons. Why not make a few darker ones since the shadow at the surface is what you really want to create during bright days. Overacast days or night time, these will be a magnet.

Thanks, Bluto. More experiments... I'm gonna have a ton of "experimentals" when spring rolls around.

The bug on the right shows the BIG EYES to good effect.
