Great smallie. Must have been epic to see the mid-air battle cry.

Couldn't even dream of them getting that big, as long as they stay healthy, which they seem to be doing, the added variety and acrobatics of these fish serve their purpose just fine.

I have actually seen smallmouths to 5 pounds in farm ponds, but those trophy fish were from ponds 5 acres or larger. Good luck with that!

Thanks Jim. The early sunshine made its markings pop really nice. Usually the smallies from the pond are a pretty uniform brown. A few summers back we had a massive fish kill and had to restart the pond from scratch. Since there we hardly put in any adult largemouths we put a handful of smallies in just to see how they would do, and I think they've done alright considering the habitat. No reproduction noted, as expected, but they're growing fairly well; this is the biggest one so far from the pond.

Pond smallie? That's another well-nourished fish! Great markings on this one Adam!
