This fish wasn't a horrible fighter, it just couldn't compete with the explosiveness of that smallmouth. I no what you mean though, a few years ago I got 20" largemouth that just seemed old and worn out and fought like the one you described.

I've caught some bass lately that were embarrassingly lightweight on the battle. That old, pale fish I got 3 weeks ago, the one thats on the way out, just felt like he didn't care. The two other healthy fish from the same pond were powerhouses.
