Bowfin fun!

Bowfin had to get in to the action on the Northwest River today......catch him on a telescopic pole and you've got a battle that normally leans in the favor of the bowfin.....

Got to be careful...these guys will bite you like a dog.....

Pretty big for a Brown Bullhead but ugly....Caught on a Silent Stinger tipped with a live grass shrimp.

The top Gator was captured September 2011 and weighed 690 1/2 pounds and was given the name "Gus".....At the time it was declared a new Mississippi State record....Last month on the 21st day of September 2012, the guys in the bottom picture struggled for nearly three hours to catch the new Mississippi State record gator @ 697.5 pounds and 13 feet 1.5 inches long......I'm ready for the new season of Swamp People......

I may have to get me a tube, Leo. 'Been thinking about it, actually.

ROFL.  Most die-hard yakkers have a fleet of yaks in their dock.

Comment by Leo Nguyen on September 19, 2012 at 3:35pm

Aways good to invest on a side order of float tube. When the action gets hot, and you want to fish a different BOW more efficiently over heated bites, use the float tube..air dried it as you use the kayak for another BOW. I have 2 float tubes, and a pontoon just for that reason.

I probably won't be taking my kayak out for several days.  That particular river has Zebra Mussels in it.  According to the ODWC, I either have to power-wash my boat, or let it air-dry for 4 days before putting it into a different BOW.  Since I've got a tiny leak inside my boat somewhere, I've got all the hatches open, and the yak is in the sun.

I might not even go fishing tomorrow.  I got some more fly tying stuff today, as well as a split shot mold.  I know I want to pour a bunch of split-shot.
