Those big Carp look very Healthy!!Real Nice catches!!
@ Jim - it does look kinda raggedy, doesn't it? Nothing like the sleek, fat tubs you've been catching.
Nice fish Jim! I have often wondered about fish getting sores from hookups. I whave wondered if something that one could spray on hook spot, to help healing, when releasing fish?
Nice, Jim. The fish does look distressed, hopefully it will recover.
Went out this past Friday and had one run on carp and managed to land this long, gaunt, skinny fish that was obviously ill. Although it had the length to go twenty plus, it had a serious infection on the left side of it's mouth that appeared to be infected, and likely caused the fish to have a difficult time with feeding. The fish had a few sores on it and was extremely light for it's length.
We surmised that it had an injury from a previous hookup and did not heal well. We released the fish with hopes that it may recover.
Burbot = freshwater cod. Voracious predator, will often strike baits and lures close to it own size. Often seen as a menace to "game fish." When they were discovered in Utah, an instant no-release/kill on sight ruling was enacted.
Delicious on the table, they are prized in Scandinavia for their roe. They are often referred to as, "poor mans lobster."
Thank, Leo, and Google. Sure wish I could catch them.
If you need help bobby, let me know. Took me a few good hours figuring things out myself as well. Message me, and I'll give you the total run down on the steps.
