Lots of fun, Jeff. How big was the creek?
Just had a little while this afternoon after work....had a little creek recommended to me to bank fish but the Bullheads dominated......A couple small Bluegill and Crappie.....but I had over fifteen chunky bullheads on my Chartreuse minnow/live cricket combination....This is down near Charleston, S.C.
that is a big boy!
World record is from Kerr Lake in southern Virginia...143 pounds caught last June. Mid-south reservoirs seem to be the places to go for goliath blues.
Holy crap, Jeff! Doesn't that beat the world record by, what, 20 lbs.?!
I truly hate to see a leviathan like that removed from the waters, but, well.... there you go. I hate it.
On the other hand, what a triumph. Mr. Selph is rightly feted.
Some will decry the troliner or jug man as being 'cheaters' or somehow un-sportsmanlike. For this reason, Leland Selph will be kept out of the record books. It's not rod-and-line fishing, sure, but to anyone who has done it, they know it is work.
That still counts in MY book.
What a fish!
