I truly hate to see a leviathan like that removed from the waters, but, well.... there you go. I hate it.

On the other hand, what a triumph. Mr. Selph is rightly feted.

Some will decry the troliner or jug man as being 'cheaters' or somehow un-sportsmanlike. For this reason, Leland Selph will be kept out of the record books. It's not rod-and-line fishing, sure, but to anyone who has done it, they know it is work.

That still counts in MY book.

Abney on February 18, 2012 at 2:33pm: On February 8th, a commercial fishermen from Cross, S.C. caught the biggest Blue Catfish ever caught from Lake Moultrie......136 pounds 6 ounces.....But Leland Selph will not get credit for the record because it was caught on a trot line....Still Big and Ugly!

Comment by Jim Gronaw on February 16, 2012 at 8:54am: Remarkably, Bob uses much lighter tackle than most of the regional carp anglers, and subdued this fish on 10 pound test line with no problems. He has taken fish as large as 30 pounds on 4 pound line! Here he is playing yesterdays top fish...
