I've used clams/mussels, found along the shore of Lake Murray. The fish will take them, and the shellcrackers thrive on them.
Sticklebacks I've never seen, so no, haven't used them. Back in the day (70's), stickleback were sort of the "poster fish" for environmental disasters and pollution horrors. Today, I don't know what their status is.

David ever use Quahogs or Sticklebacks for bait?

Quahog = clam
Stickleback = small, chub-like fish...

Quahogs are a rather tasty type of clam, native to New England, I believe.  Not totally sure what a "Stickleback" is, but I'm willing to bet 5 cents that it's some of bivalve, either freshwater or saltwater.

LOL What's a quahog ? ,what's a stickleback!?

You're kidding right? Those are betting odds, buddy! I wouldn't know a quahog from a stickleback...

I got a lousy 75% on the fish ID quiz. I'm ashamed 22 out of 29 id'd correctly .

One of my favorite RM episodes, john. Arapaima are one of my out-of-country "bucket list" species.

Saw this Arapaima episode again last night . Jeremy had to really work for this one ! Portaging along a river in Guyana with two native guised .Catching and eating Pachus while camping in remote areas. There is no question that Jeremy knows how to set a sharp hook and land the feistiest of fish . Here's a clip: http://animal.discovery.com/tv-shows/river-monsters/videos/bringing...
