Comment by John Sheehan on September 3, 2016 at 1:42pm: Thanks Carl ,this was a fantastic 3#, 23.5" fighter ,even on an over matched 'Medium ' rod with 10 # test . There is a tenacity in Pickerel this time of year that seems unmatched in other months ,in terms of their willingness to battle .80 degree surface temp was the case this day . I am thinking the bait caster combo beat her up more than I should have as it took awhile to revive her . She was lip hooked and not gut hooked . Not bleeding just dog tired ! I am rethinking my approach a bit .
