Do you love big bluegill?
I know this is going to be hard to believe but this really happened to me yesterday. About noon yesterday it was hot, I mean really hot and was in the Ozarks in a clear mountain river trying to cool off, I waded out into neck deep water with only my head , cap, and polarized sunglasses above water , standing there still enjoying the cool of the river I looked down in the water and much to my surprise there was a longeared sunfish about a 8 or 9 inches long suspended about 6 inches below the surface. At first I thought he might be curious , or thought I might be some kind of structure, but now I realize he was calling me out, for three minuted we were eye to eye and he was staring at me , he let me move my hand within 6 inches of him and it didn't seem to scare him or bother him, he just kept staring at me like he was the Boss of the river. I was fasinated that I was that close to a big sunfish in his natural enviroment and I wanted to see how this was going to play out, I thought about trying to catch him with my hands, thought that would be cool but I just let him do his thing and I watched, it looked like he had a smirk on his face as he finally broke our eye to eye stare down and slowly be began to swim around me,and I thought he was just going to swim off when all of a sudden he BIT ME, he had found a mole I have on my back and he BIT ME hard enought to bring blood. I felt back there to make sure he had not removed it. Well it's on now, next trip up he is going to taste the steel of my hook at the end of my fly line, we can't have sunfish acting like that, the next thing you know they will be acting like piranna , so I am going to remove this MANEATER before He can teach others to do the same, I suggest that yall do the same. LOFR, WE MAY NEED TO BLAST!!!!!!
I'm sure he has been stalking you for awhile to get revenge for all them lost fish who met your steel and we really know he's not a man eater or look how big he would really be a worthy advocate for my #2WT fly rod. He is just a mole eater and look at it like this you won't have to go to the Doctors to get it removed he did it for you and saved you all that money, really what a nice companion to have with you who looks out for your health and well being and when you think your there all by yourself guess who is there with you your mole eating companion.
Did you hear the Jaws theme at any point during this encounter? :)
Any chance I could have you over here, to use as TIPPING for my jigs?!
I like it, how about that Mike is that close to being right.
Thats pretty close, make sure it has some height to it for a 3 d effect. LOFR
Amazing what American ingenuity comes up with !Sure to become a classic!
WWWWUUUAAAHHH?! You have got to try that out on the water.
Aw shucks, it just "Lepomis macrochirus dermatologist," a new strain of bluegill. I hear that the insurance companies have been distributing them in waters everywhere to cut back on the fees they have to pay out to have moles removed at the doctor's.
Very funny, L. Piranha may have mixed in your river system and crossed with the brim.
You better call Jeremy Wade... "River Monsters" may want to know about this.
As kids we were swimming in a pond, and something bit my buddy's nipple hard enough to draw blood. We never knew for sure what bit him.
Just so wrong looking..but feel so right. LOL It does resembled a large victimed deer tick on a small wooden float boat.
