Salmo Chubby Darter

Has anyone used the little Salmo Chubby Darter other than thru the ice?  Seems like it would be a great vertical jigging bait for spring, summer and fall.  Tip the front hooks with waxworks or…Continue

Hi Vis fluorescent monofilament

Being an active fisherman that prefers monofilament lines for my ultralight fishing, I really like using the highly visible fluorescent lines. I've used all the major brands in clear and green, but I…Continue

Clear soft bait article

Has anyone used clear or tranlucent baits?  In the new winter issue of In-Fisherman magazine, there's a great article about panfish feeding on tiny zooplankton.  Though this write up is geared…Continue

"Ice Line" used during summer?

I have a question.  I am  currently using a monofilament line designated for winter ice fishing.  Here in Southern California, during the winter months, we do not get any ice on our lakes, or even…Continue

"Way to go Bob! What a Bluegill! How was fishing overall?  It was over 100 degrees today. Pretty hot to be on the water after 10 AM.  You sure don't need to wear waders in that warm water!"

"Beautiful fish! Love that metallic turquoise with those olive green spots. But I wonder, was the fisherman wearing a blueish colored jacket that may be reflected onto the normally more silvery Redear?"

Fall Equinox

Today is the Fall Equinox.  For all of us in North America, if you want to find where in your yard (or anywhere for that matter), the true east and west are, simply look at where the sun rises for true east, and where it sets, for true west.  Pretty cool.  As far as the Bluegill fishing goes, It should be pretty good until the weather changes and the water starts to cool down.

Glad to virtually meet you Jeff. I figured there were a few tubers here, just too good a way to go after gills.

Jeff

I just checked out your picture slide show.

Fantastic view. You have some very nice areas to fish.

Sure wish I lived close to some lakes like them.

Thanks for the welcome Jeff. Indeed this is a great website. Plenty of tricks to learn from the members. There are 4 flies that I want to try out which I saw earlier in the Group. I'm adding tons of notes into my PDA from all the info found at this site. We have got to meet one another at Perris one of these days. My "forced" vacation days are coming up. So, I'll sync the week up with you to hit the water together.

Hey Jeff, thats a novel idea.  I was out at Perris Lake today and caught 4 bluegill on circle hooks and crickets.  All were hooked in the mouth.  All in 15-20 feet of water.  Thanks for the tip.
